Stafford Loan Entrance
Mandatory Entrance Counseling Session for All First-Time Federal Stafford Loan Borrowers
First-time borrowers of the Federal Stafford Loan are required to complete a Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling Session. The purpose of this Entrance Counseling Session is to assist you in understanding your rights and responsibilities as a Stafford Loan borrower.
You are about to complete Loan Entrance Counseling required by the Federal government and a Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN). This easy two part process will take about 30 minutes. You must complete both parts simultaneously or you may have to repeat the entire process.
Before you begin, gather the following information:
- Your social security number
- Your driver's license
- Name, address, city, state, zip code and telephone number for two references
Please be sure that you receive a "congratulations" message stating you have completed the entrance counseling session before you continue on to complete the Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note.

Once on the Sallie Mae website, if you have never created an account online with Sallie Mae, click on the "Create a New Account" button. If you have already created an account on Sallie Mae, log in and complete the Online Loan Counseling.
