Stafford Loan Entrance Instructions

Mandatory Entrance Counseling Session and MPN for All First-Time Federal Stafford Loan Borrowers

This easy two part process will take about 30 minutes.

All first-time borrowers of the Federal Stafford Loan are required to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and a Federal Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling Form. Both are required by the Federal government before the loan funds can be placed into your student account. The purpose of this Entrance Counseling is to assist you in understanding your rights and responsibilities as a Stafford Loan borrower.

Students, before you begin your Master Promissory Note (MPN), gather the following information:

Your social security number
Your driver's license
Name, address, city, state, zip code and telephone number for two references

To complete the (MPN) and Entrance Counseling form you must select a lender at the right, or a participating lender of your choice. Once you have selected a lender and have completed the on-line MPN, download and complete the entrance counseling form form at the link below. Make a copy of the first page of the MPN and your completed entrance counseling form and mail the copies to:
